Pontiac. New and used cars

My tachometer will letter for letter bounce up and down between 2000-3000 rpm while i am driving up a hill at an average speed of 60 mph with my cruise set. Almost like i am pushing on the gas and letting off over again. Only when i speed up, slow down, and/or reach level ground will it stop. Had tranny checked and its fine. What could it be?

Almost like i am pushing on the gas and letting off repetitiously. Only when i speed up, slow down, and/or reach level ground will it stop. Most often occurs in overdrive. Had tranny checked and its gauzy. What could it be?

Pontiac Fiero 1987. It is idling kinda violent, and im not sure if that has anything to do with it. It shifts perfectly fine, as a matter of fact for its age it is remarkable. Thanks for your help. Lee

I have a 1989 Pontiac firebird and the unemployed is rough, it will jump between 900 and 2000 rpm. the service engine light comes on and it says its the oxygen sensor. I have replaced that and still it says that the Oxygen sensor. I about it has something to do with the throttle body. Has anyone had the same problem?

I have a 97 pontiac fire bird with an aftermarket intellect unit and subs and speakers. My head unit randomly turns off when it wants to, when the head constituent turns off the windows don't work either, and there is no sound or nothing. then after a few second or minutes it usually turns back on, then off, then on, then most of the on occasion it stays on for the rest of the ride. I have not found any type of pattern to this problem, i can go over bumps and slam the door and it won't form the stereo, but the head unit randomly turns off every time i drive my car... help please.

I have an 81 Pontiac Firebird and it has a 355 sbc with a Carter QuadraJet 4B that has a creation date of 1978 and rebuilt by holly tag but i don't know when, i got the car like this, it starts but idles ruff and when i try to rev it up it starts to strangle and it at times back fires out the carb. i replaced the plugs,wires, coil, and fuel pump, the cap and rotor is slender and cant keep it running. I was told to try loosening the distributor and move it around while running it and giving a little throttle but it had little secure.I'd like to cruise for the summer can anyone help me?!
